TEECHE to be piloted in the UK
SUSSEX-BASED Early Years Childcare has reported positive feedback with its EU-funded training project titled TEECHE (Training for Early Years Education and Childcare).
In September 2002 Early Years Childcare received funding for the project from EU's Leonardo Programme. Together with partners from the UK, Austria and the Netherlands, they are now developing a pan European qualification that aims to improve the quality of and access to vocational training and to promote lifelong learning. TEECHE addresses training for care and education of children aged 0-7 years in Europe.
The framework for TEECHE includes three levels giving candidates opportunities for progression. These are Foundation Level, Intermediate Level and Advanced Level. Within each level candidates will study three core elements: Child Development, Professional Development and the Learning Environment.
The Child Development module within the Foundation Level will be piloted in the UK, Austria and the Netherlands. The module's content is being developed and will include multiple choice questions, scenarios, tasks and supporting material. The TEECHE partners are now considering practical arrangements for this piloting.
An online version of TEECHE is being developed by Worth Media, one of the project's UK partners.
