Early Years Childcare PLC was founded in 1989 in response to the need for high quality childcare for working parents. We operate 9 day nurseries and 7 play schemes across the country, caring for over 1000 children and employing over 300 staff.
In 2001 we became an accredited NVQ assessment centre and offer NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare and education, key skills and the A1assessors qualification to our own staff and to other providers.
We are keen to raise the profile of the childcare profession and believe that the best way forward is to raise the quality of the training and tap in to the huge potential within the work force
The TEECHE project offered us an opportunity to develop innovative, vocational training. Early Years Childcare are the project leaders and our role is to co-ordinate and manage the project. We liase with ECOTEC, the UK National Agency who monitor and support Leornado projects. Our project manager is Beryl Carroll and the company's Quality and Development team support her.
The first task was to identify the European partners who would work with us on the project. This has been very successful, we work well together, exploring ideas and drawing on each other's traditions and approaches.
Each partner has responsibility for each of the 10 work packages, using their individual skills and experience. As the project leader it is our responsibility to support the partners and to ensure the very specific objectives of the project are met.
